EP&T’s EDGE Intelligent System is a state-of-the-art electricity, gas, water and waste sub-metering, monitoring, billing and reporting system.
Building sub-metering systems can help to deliver significant reductions in utility consumption and costs. Such systems provide a detailed understanding of where and when electricity, gas and water are being consumed throughout the building and how much it is costing. It is the action taken as a result of this increased understanding of the building's operations that results in the savings.
The EDGE Intelligent System can measure a variety of electrical parameters as well as gas and water consumption and waste arisings. The information gathered can then be analysed to identify potential savings.
Analysis of the data and consumption patterns will highlight anomalies and as a result it will be possible to:
- Identify where electricity / gas / water is being wasted
- Identify energy and water reduction initiatives
- Reduce costs by selecting the most cost-effective tariffs
- Allocate real costs to different activities and profit centres providing incentives to the end users to implement energy / water saving initiative
- Monitor performance of initiatives that have been put in place to ensure optimum performance
Sub-metering systems can be installed without significant interference to existing electrical infrastructure and can be expanded efficiently as the business expands.
In accordance with the guidelines issued for improving Energy Efficiency in Commonwealth Operations section 2.4.3, the use of sub-metering can deliver approximately 20% savings with little or no additional capital expenditure.
